A driver who ran out of control of his Range Rover while “showing off” at speeds up to 110 mph and killed a beautician has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison.
Yagmur Ozden, 33, and the driver Rida Kazem, 24, were flung from the car as it crashed through a Tesla shop and ended up on a west London railroad track. Ozden later succumbed to her injuries.
Only one other passenger, 26-year-old Zamarod Arif, was restrained at the time, and he sustained serious injuries, including a fractured arm and leg.
The two women were being driven home by Kazem, whose left leg was severed below the knee as a result of the collision, in the early hours of August 22, 2022.
Members of Ms Ozden’s family could be heard crying and gasping as the CCTV footage of the incident was being played on Wednesday at Isleworth Crown Court in west London.
Before losing control, Kazem’s black Range Rover Sport SVR, worth £180,000, was recorded reaching a high speed of 110 mph on the westbound 40 mph-only A40 in Ealing, Greater London.
Before the debris at Park Royal tube station, the car struck a stalled Tesla that was being charged by a taxi driver inside.
