Roland V. “Rollie” Massimino (born November 13, 1934) is a former basketball player and current basketball coach in the United States. In addition, he serves as the head men’s basketball coach at the Northwood University in West Palm Beach campus in Florida, where he has served in that capacity since 200Massimino previously held the position of head men’s basketball coach at Stony Brook University from 1969 to 1971, Villanova University from 1973 to 1992, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas from 1992 to 1994, and Cleveland State University from 1996 to 200During his time at Villanova, he was a member of the 1984–85 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship squad. Despite being seeded eighth into the 1985 NCAA Tournament, the Villanova Wildcats won the National Championship Game by defeating their highly fancied Big East Conference opponent, the Georgetown Hoyas. The upset is generally considered as one of the biggest in the history of North American sports, if not the best ever.
