Mark Allan Hoppus is an American musician, vocalist, songwriter, and producer of records. He has been popular as the bassist and co-lead singer of pop-punk band Blink-182. He was also a part of rock duo Simple Creatures. His parents got divorced when he was 8 years old, which had a disturbing effect on him. He had to shuffle between his parents’ homes with his sister. This continued for a couple of years, after which his father moved to Monterey.

Hoppus’s interest in punk rock started to grow when he was in junior high. His father introduced him to the works of famous musicians and bands like Elton John, Billy Joel, and The Beatles. Hoppus never took training in the bass and taught himself by playing to popular bands like the Descendents, The Cure, and Bad Religion. Hoppus moved to San Diego in 1992 and was introduced to Tom DeLonge there. They formed the band Blink-182, making Scott Raynor be the drummer, Hoppus being the co-lead vocalist and bassist. Hoppus lived with his mother during the early years of the band. His mother supported him and agreed with his decision to drop out of college, so he could tour with Blink-182.
