Joel was born on February 4, 1982, somewhere in Arvada, Colorado, United States. He is the son of proud parents, Gary Klatt.

Early Career

Joel always showed a deep interest in baseball from a very young age in his life. As mentioned earlier, he was coached by his father, Gary.

During the early stage of his life helped to win the Jefferson County league championship with a 9-3 record.

Likewise, on his senior level, with a record of 6–5 with 78–125 passes, 1,250 yards, and 16 touchdowns record, he helped to earn second-team all-state honors.

After playing as a shortstop in baseball, Joel earned first-team all-state in his senior year, which also helped his team win the first runner in the state tournaments.

During the four years at his high school, Joel played football, basketball, and baseball.

For the 2000 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft, Klatt got drafted by San Diego Padres.

Moreover, after playing for Arizona League Padres, Joel led his team with 12 doubles and batted .209 with 1 H.R. and 15 RBIs. Later on, he moved to the University of Colorado to play in the big league.

College Career

After moving to the University of Colorado in his first year, he played in 3 games against Missouri and Iowa State. Klatt played in the Quarterback position the following year, which helped him set 19 records and one tie.

Moreover, Klatt helped earn all Big 12 honors and Colorado’s John Mack Award.

During the game against Washington state game, he suffered from a sprained shoulder injury that led him to miss two games against Florida State and Baylor.

However, after returning from the injury, he set a record against Kansas with 38–54 with 419 yards.

Joel started the 2004 season with 12 games with a 192–334 for 2,065 yards and nine touchdowns. He continuously helped Colorado Boulder to win many titles, such as the Big 12 Conference North title.

Unfortunately, Joel’s college career came to an end in 2005. He was knocked out when Texas linebacker Drew Kelson was hitting him in the Big 12 Championship Game against Texas.

Football Career

For the 2006 NFL Draft, Joel was not drafted; however, he attended the mini camps of the Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints.

Luckily, Joel signed the contract with New Orleans right after the mini camps. But he was released from the Saints after 11 days of signing contracts on June 2, 2006.

Broadcasting Career

Joel started his broadcasting career in 2006 after he worked as an analyst on Friday night high school football games for the FSN Rocky Mountain sports network.

After that, he worked as a studio host on the Fox Sports Southwest for the Saturday college football coverage.

Klatt continued his successful career in broadcasting and became a color analyst for Fox Sports Net in 2009.

After that, he worked for Colorado Rockies and Root Sports Rocky Mountain. Klatt started hosting a series of sports radio shows from 2007 to 2012 in the Denver area.

While working with the Denver area, he hosted a program on an FM Station 104.3 from 2011 to 12. In August 2013, Klatt joined Fox Sports (FS1), where he spent two years.

Also, after joining Fox’s broadcast network, he spent two years there, where he worked as a full-time studio analyst for the college football coverage.

For the 2015-16 season, Joel worked as a digital host for the U.S.Championships. He also served as Curt Menefee’s color analyst on telecasts of the XFL. Joel also appears as a guest commentator on various sports network channels.

Klatt has appeared as a guest commentator on WJOX-FM, The Ticket 1310-AM, and 96.7-FM. Likewise, Joel is also seen hosting the college football season for FOX Big Noon Saturday alongside Gus Johnson.
