James Iannazzo is now-former Merrill Lynch wealth manager who was accused of throwing drinks at Robeks smoothie shop employees. The incident took place at Fairfield, Connecticut. James Iannazzo has been arrested and charged with felonies including second-degree intimidation, second-degree breach of peace, and first-degree criminal trespass after Saturday 22nd January 2022. After his graduation, he immediately joined Merill Lynch Wealth Management in the same year however he is now fired from this position in wake of his recent action.

James Iannazzo, who is 48 years old said in a statement that he was upset because his son was having a severe allergic reaction and went back to the store because of that concern only. During the investigation, the employee of the store informed the police officials that they were never told about the peanut allergy but had only requested that there should be no peanut butter in the drink. According to the police officials, the officers were called at Iannazzo’s home at around 1:39 p.m. for a juvenile who had an allergic reaction and was taken to the local hospital. According to the police officials, James Iannazzo then turned to the store and started throwing things. Not only this, he yelled at the employees and refused to leave. He also made statements regarding one of the worker’s immigration status that further led to the hate crime charge.

Iannazzo’s lawyer said in a statement that Mr. Iannazzo wholeheartedly regrets the incident that took place inside the store at Fairfield Robeks on 22nd January 2022. According to the statement, the incident took place when he ordered at the Robeks and stressed to the staff that there must not contain peanuts because his son was suffering from an allergic reaction against peanuts. The recipient acknowledged the order and received the obstruction of not adding peanut butter. Riccio, a Bridgeport-based attorney, added that upon drinking the smoothie, his son suffered a severe allergic reaction and was required to be transported to the nearby hospital via ambulance.
When faced with a dire situation, Mr. James Iannazzo visited the store and reacted while acting in anger and fear. He said that Mr. Iannazzo is not a racist individually and deeply regrets his actions and statements made during the incident. He is also going through emotional stress at the moment. On the other hand, Bill Haldin, a spokesperson for Merrill Lynch and Bank of America, said in a statement that the company doesn’t tolerate such kinds of behaviors and will like to investigate the situation for further actions. The video that went viral shows how James Iannazzo was yelling at the teen employees making anger-based statements like they are stupid ignorant high school kids. Also, he threw drinks at them calling one of the workers an F**** immigrant loser. Fairfield police officials received multiple calls at around 2:26 p.m. from the side of the employees of the 2061 Black Rock Turnpike store regarding the reporting of a man throwing things and yelling at the employees while refusing to leave the store. After the police arrived, the police immediately investigated the case and found that Mr. Iannazzo asked about who made the smoothie containing peanuts that further caused the son an allergic reaction.
When the employees could not provide Iannazzo with an answer, he became irritated and started yelling at the employees using several expletives. According to the police, Mr. Iannazzo started throwing drinks at one of the employees which hit his right shoulder. The employees, on the other hand, reported no complaints of injury and pain.
