Blankenship is an experienced treasure hunter who had been walking around Oak Island for more than 50 years looking for historical artifacts and fortunes.

He was on the reality TV show “The Curse of Oak Island” with Rick and Marty Lagina as a man who knew everything there was to know about Oak Island’s fortunes and secrets.

After he died, his son Dave had no choice but to carry on his father’s work and join the reality show. In the 8th season, however, Dan is nowhere to be found.

How much money did Dan Blankenship have? What did he do for a living?

As an expert on looking for treasure on Oak Island, Dan Blankenship was thought to have a net worth of $1 million.

Dan, who died in March 2019, made his money by being on the History reality show The Curse of Oak Island and by doing business with other people.

The treasure hunter on the History Channel show knew a lot about Oak Island and helped the Lagina brothers find treasures and artifacts.

Dan, a veteran of World War II, has spent more than half of his life in the northern offshores of Nova Scotia. He worked hard and didn’t care about getting hurt while trying to find the treasures buried under Oak Island.

Like Rick Lagina from the show, he became very interested in treasure hunting after reading the Readers Digest in 1965. Because of this, he and his wife left Florida to go hunting.

The man from Ohio never stopped looking, and the plan wasn’t meant to stop his investigation.

Dan had said in History, “It’s way too late to go back.” “It’s too late and has been for a long time. In Florida, I had a good contracting business. I had friends and a good name, but I gave them all up to come up here and try my luck.

Why did Dave Blankenship, Dan Blankenship’s son, quit The Curse of Oak Island?

After years of treasure hunting with the Legina Brothers, Dan Blankenship’s son Dave left The Curse of Oak Island.

Dan was on the show to honor his father, who had spent more than 50 years of his life looking for treasures on Oak Island.

His dad, Dan, brought him to Oak Island because he was going through a rough divorce from his ex-wife, Jane, and he didn’t want his son to fall.

Dave was a regular on the show, but in the eighth season, he just disappeared. This led many people to wonder what happened. Also, no information was given about how he went missing.

Fans of the show on Reddit like to think that he didn’t appear on the show because of his health problems and the health risks of the Covid 19 pandemic, which hit when the 8th season was being made.

Dave hadn’t said anything about why he wasn’t on the show. It is said that he is leaving the show for reasons other than health risks.

Dave did announce his retirement in 2021, though, in a special behind-the-scenes episode of “Drilling Down” that was all about where Dave was when he wasn’t on the show.

The episode showed that Dave left the show on his own and that he and the show’s producers got along well, but there were rumors that Dave and the show’s producers had been fighting the year before.

Dave supposedly wrote a comment on Facebook that he has since deleted that said he didn’t like the show.

Also, the website Mysteries of Canada, which was said to have talked to Dave, said that Dave left the show because the people who made it didn’t pay attention to what his father had done for it.

Dave thought he couldn’t take part in the show the way he wanted to.

Friends of an American who became known as a treasure hunter in Nova Scotia say he was bigger than life.

Dan Blankenship died Sunday at 95

He was a main character in “The Curse of Oak Island,” a reality TV show on the History channel that took place on the 57-hectare island off the south coast of Nova Scotia.

David Blankenship, his son, said on Tuesday that they were planning a memorial service for Thursday, likely in Martins Point, N.S.

A family friend and Oak Island historian named Charles Barkhouse called Blankenship a “living legend.”

“I mean, how often do you meet someone who is looking for treasure?” Barkhouse had a laugh. “In reality, he did a lot more than just look for treasure. His life was very full.”

Barkhouse said Blankenship was a veteran of the U.S. Army who ran a successful contracting business in Miami, Florida. In 1965, he read a story in “Reader’s Digest” that got him interested in the Oak Island mystery.

Barkhouse said, “He’s put his blood, sweat, and tears into that island to try to figure out what’s going on.”

In 1795, a group of teenagers started digging at the site because they thought they might find a pirate’s buried treasure.

People think that anyone from the pirate Blackbeard to the Knights Templar could have buried treasure on the island.

In an interview from 2010, Blankenship talked about how the “Reader’s Digest” story got him interested in the story.

“I gave the article to my wife and told her to read it. She did, and when she was done, she said, “So what?” I said, “Well, number one, there’s treasure on Oak Island, and number two, I’ll help get it.” “That was the start.”

Blankenship and a group of investors, like brothers Rick and Marty Lagina, who are doing most of the work on the island right now, owned the island together. During the six seasons of the reality TV show, their search for treasure has been a big part of it.

The show’s Los Angeles-based production company, Prometheus Entertainment, said in a tweet, “Dan was known as a pillar of strength to those around him, and we will be forever grateful for the time we had with him.”

The so-called “money pit” is a circular depression that was found by one of the boys in 1795. Previous excavations at the site found a layer of stones below the surface, a layer of logs every three meters, and layers of charcoal, putty, and coconut fibers all the way down to a depth of 27 meters.

Barkhouse said Blankenship moved to the island in the 1970s and was driven in the same way he thinks most people who are interested in a mystery are.

“These treasure hunters are going all the way back to the beginning because they want to be the ones to figure this out,” Barkhouse said. “You have to believe with all your heart that you are the one who will solve it. If you don’t, there’s no point in being there.”

He said Blankenship had a strong presence and told great stories.

“At 95, you knew you were shaking someone’s hand when you shook his hand,” Barkhouse said. “He had a big pair of hands because he worked hard his whole life. He was as tight on him as a steel vice.”

Rick Lohnes, who runs tours of Oak Island, said he first met Blankenship in the 1980s at the auto repair shop where Lohnes used to work.

Lohnes said, “He used to come in and tell me stories, but he never told me a whole story.” “He always told me I had to wait until he came back again.”

Lohnes said that Blankenship really thought there was treasure to be found and that it was “just a matter of getting to it.”

“To me Dan is Oak Island. The knowledge he took with him is a real loss.”

Fox News can confirm that Dan Blankenship, a famous treasure hunter and regular on “Curse of Oak Island,” died on Sunday at the age of 95.

“It makes us sad that Dan Blankenship died. In a statement to Fox News on Monday, A&E Networks said, “We will miss him very much, and our thoughts are with his family during this hard time.” It wasn’t clear what caused death.

The Friends of Oak Island shared the news of Blankenship’s death in a post on the group’s Facebook page on Monday. Sunday night, CTV News Atlantic said that he had died.

“It breaks our hearts to tell you that Daniel Blankenship has died,” the post said. “Dan was respected and looked up to because he was a real Oak Island legend. Everyone was moved by his determination, creativity, and passion. Dan, have a safe trip. We’ll all miss you, and your memory will always be with us.”

Blankenship read about Oak Island for the first time in a Reader’s Digest issue when he was living in Florida. He started looking for the elusive treasure in 1965, and in 1970, he moved from the United States to Nova Scotia, Canada, to look for Oak Island’s legendary loot and fabled fortune full-time.

Blankenship and the History Channel didn’t start making “The Curse of Oak Island,” a reality TV show, until 2014. The show follows brothers Rick and Marty Lagina as they try to find the treasure and solve the mystery of Oak Island.

Blakenship’s son David and Marty Lagina’s old college roommate Craig Tester, who is an expert at drilling and earth-scanning, also appear in the series.
