Career
Despite the fact that Bob Woodward was hired as a reporter for The Washington Post in 1971, things would only improve the following year. He and Carl Bernstein were both asked to report on the 17th of June 1972 burglary of the Democratic National Committee’s headquarters in the Watergate office building in Washington, D.C. They were successful in exposing several dirty tricks used by the Nixon re-election committee. They also wrote “All the President’s Men,” a book about the scandal that was adapted into a 1976 film of the same name.
Both the film and the book brought them a lot of attention and praise. In 1996, Bob Woodward and Brian Duffy published a story claiming that a US Department of Justice investigation into fund-raising activities revealed that Chinese agents attempted to direct contributions from foreign sources to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) prior to the 1996 presidential campaign.
He has also written four books about the presidency of former American President George W. Bush. “Bush at War” (2002), “Plan of Attack” (2004), “The State of Denial” (2006), and “The War Within: A Secret White House History” are the titles of these books.
On February 22, 2013, he published a column in The Washington Post in which he criticized former American President Barack Obama’s administration for claiming in 2012 and 2013 that Republicans in Congress had proposed the United States federal budget sequester. Bob Woodward wrote “Wired,” a book about Hollywood drug culture and the death of popular American actor and comedian John Belushi. Bob Woodward is currently an associate editor at The Washington Post.
