When you talk about singers who aren’t afraid to speak out about the evils in their society, Ariel Camacho was one of them. His skillful and unique singing style will forever strike a chord in the hearts of his followers, not to mention the special way he played the requinto, a traditional tuned guitar, very popular among Latinos.

Growing up in a Mexican town plagued by drug dealers and traffickers, Ariel Camacho still found a voice through his songs. He consistently raised awareness of the dangers of drugs to society, following in the footsteps of some of the great Mexican musicians who opposed such vices.

Ariel Camacho’s bio

July 8, 1992 marked the arrival of ArielCamacho into the world in Guamuchil, Sinaloa. He was born as José Ariel Camacho Barraza to Benito Camacho and Reynalda Barraza. In a formal configuration, he is addressed a combination of his mother’s surname and his father’s surname. However, for ease of addressing, he is simply referred to as Ariel Camacho.

Not much is known about his childhood and upbringing. However, his journey in music dates back to his early days. He also mentioned attending college where he met some of his crew members.

The Life and Times of Ariel Camacho

Ariel Camacho’s musical career started quite early, precisely when he was 12 years old. He performed in shows around Guamuchil and nearby towns in Mexico. He was having the best time of his life doing what he loved to do when he was very young.

Understanding the power of a team, he decided to start a band. César Iván Sánchez was the first to join the group. Cesar was a friend he met in college and he did very well with guitar and backup vocals.

With Ariel Camacho’s musical ambitions growing, he made moves to get more people into the band. The next addition to the group was Omar Burgos. Omar was a great tuba player who brought a whole new dimension to Ariel’s music.

After forming a band of three, he went ahead to organize a concert. The concert, which turned out to be his first, was held in Tijuana and was attended by over 40,000 people. It was a huge leap in his musical career. In addition to his growing personality, he was also known for expressively playing the requinto. In fact, his grandfather gave him the nickname, La Tuyia when he was a child. This is because he was much smaller than the guitar he played.

In 2013, Ariel Camacho’s band evolved and got the name, Ariel Camacho and Los Plebes del Rancho (it’s a Spanish expression for Ariel Camacho and The Plebes del Rancho ). There were no new additions however, just César Iván Sánchez, who played rhythm guitar and provided backup vocals, and Omar Burgos, who played tuba. Ariel Camacho was the lead vocalist and performed alongside his requinto, which was the lead guitar.

The band’s popularity grew when they became famous for their unusual mix of acoustic guitar, tuba and 12-string sharkto. As a group they released very successful songs like HablemosTe Metiste, El Karma and Rey de Corazones. Rey from Corazones became their most popular song, going viral on social media and eventually became Ariel Camacho’s nickname.

Following in the footsteps of famous songwriters before him was no easy task, but Ariel Camacho has done well to preserve their legacy. During his short career he collaborated with other corrido singers such as Regulo Caro, Marca Registrada, Los Traviesos De La Sierra and Grupo Fernandez. Regardless of whether Ariel Camacho’s promising career ended too soon, he will be remembered for his style and approach to music and his world-class musical talent.

The death of the Mexican singer and songwriter

When Ariel Camacho bowed before the Carnavalde Mocorito, a music festival, on February 25, 2015, he was actually taking a bow from life itself. Returning home after the festival, he was involved in a car accident on the road to Angostura, Sinaloa, alongside three other people. Although there was only one survivor of this crash, Ariel Camacho was unlucky.

Reportedly, Ariel Camacho, who was driving the car around 2 a.m., lost control of the car. There was speculation that he was under the influence of alcohol, but there was nothing to prove it. However, the singer was confirmed to be at high speed. It was not the first time he was involved in a car accident due to speeding. But he didn’t get another chance after that particular incident.

He was only 22 when he died. Tributes were paid to him by singers and fans alike. His musical legacy is so easily unforgettable
